On occasion, cities realize there is a need to look for new leadership for their police agencies. While many will look internally or request assistance from the Sheriff in that county to find a temporary replacement, some find that an Interim Chief with no ties to the area is the best solution.
Having served as a command level officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department, a Chief of Police in a 100 employee agency and having taught and consulted for police agencies across the country, Mr. Mathieson is uniquely qualified to serve as an interim Chief of Police.
As an Interim Police Chief, Mr. Mathieson not only provides leadership, but acts as a consultant to the City Manager or Mayor concerning issues affecting the operation of the agency. He will also assist with the screening and selection of the new Chief (upon request) and will also work with staff to provide a detailed orientation to the new Chief to ensure an orderly transition.
Mr. Mathieson has the endorsement of the Florida Police Chiefs Association in this regard and is willing to provide a full resume upon request. Employment is on a contract basis, subject to negotiation of compensation and terms of employment.
